Open Piobaireachd
"Piobaireachd" (pronounced pee-brock) is also known as Ceol Mor - Scottish Gaelic for "big music". It is indeed "the big music". Pipers need to have a thorough understanding of their instrument, their music and the tradition behind this centuries old musical tradition of the Scottish Highlands. Sometimes referred to as the classical music of the bagpipes, the Pacific Northwest's best open pipers compete in piobaireachd on Friday afternoon on the Heritage stage. Each piece is approximately 20 minutes long, limiting the number of competitors at the Games.
Friday, Heritage Stage: 5:00 pm
