It is a dance form infused with the spirit of the clans, tempered by the etiquette & elegance of the 18th century assembly. Its music is alive with the evocative rhythms & melodies of its Celtic origin – and instantly captivating.

No Partner? No Problem!: Scottish Country Dancing is all about community, so you’ll be dancing with different partners throughout the event.

Royal Scottish Country Dance Society

As the social dance of Scotland, Scottish country dancing has been shaped by the traditions from an earlier era when Dancing Masters toured the countryside teaching the jigs, reels & strathspeys unique to that land. It is a dance form infused with the spirit of the clans, tempered by the etiquette & elegance of the 18th century assembly. Its music is alive with the evocative rhythms & melodies of its Celtic origin – and instantly captivating.

Scottish country dancing is as much fun as it is challenging – great exercise for body and mind. It’s also unbelievably affordable – it is Scottish after all – and you don’t need to bring a partner – we provide them. Furthermore it’s done all over the world, supported by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) in Scotland.

Every summer, from June to August, there is open-air Dancing in the Park on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm at the Ceperley Park area in Stanley Park. Our dance programs include “audience-participation” dances and we welcome visitors, whether local or from out of town. Ceilidh Dances run monthly September to April.
