The Games are, at its core, about competition, but surrounding this is a smorgasbord of events and activities for the whole family.
On Saturday, you can expect a full highland games with plenty to see and do. The Main Entry Stage is the site of Scottish Country Dancing. Try a step during one of their interactive sessions. Try tossing a (child’s) caber, blowing a tune on a bagpipe or learn a basic highland dancing step.
The Games get underway on Friday afternoon, with official opening ceremonies at 6:00 pm on the Big Tent Stage.
Wander the grounds and you will find children’s activities, a whisky school on the Main Stage, highland dancing, food and merchandise vendors, Scottish heavy events, solo and pipe band competitions, lots of music under the Big Tent, refreshments from Twa Dogs Brewery and a Cultural workshop tent full of fascinating topics (and of course music). And wrap up the day with our famous Massed Pipe Bands on the Lew Ross Field around 5:00 pm with live music from Findlay MacDonald, Ali Hutton and Tiller’s Folly afterwards in the Big Tent.
